Young Vivie Warren, emancipated, intelligent and self sufficient, is astounded to learn her mother rose from poverty to riches through prostitution-and also that she is now part owner and operator of a chain of brothels.  Mrs. Warren ably justifies her past-attacking a hypocritical society that rewards vice and oppresses virtue.  Mrs. Warren states that poverty and the society that fosters poverty are the real villains and that life in a brothel is preferable to life in a 19th century factory.  Written in 1893, this is Shaw's controversial attack on society's hypocrisy.

Travelling faith healer Frank has gone all over Wales and Scotland with his wife, Grace, and his manager, Teddy. In their respective monologues, Frank, Grace and Teddy tell their differing versions of the healer's performances and of a terrible event that slowly comes into focus. In this darkly lyrical tale, the author has created a metaphorical portrait of the artist as both creator and destroyer through the shifting memories of the three characters.

At a large, tastefully appointed Sneden's Landing townhouse, the Deputy Mayor of New York has just shot himself. Though only a flesh wound, four couples are about to experience a severe attack of farce. His lawyer, Ken and wife Chris must get "the story" straight before the other guests arrive. As the confusions and miscommunications mount, the evening spins off into classic farcical hilarity.
